Color me red: holiday accent

There is something chic and yet quite sultry about wearing red.

A red accessory gives that extra accent to an outfit or if you are feeling the whole red vibe then I think you are going to love the pop of color that it will give to your day. I rarely wear red (wore a red backless dress to a friend’s bachelorette party and then a red jumpsuit on Halloween).

This holiday season I want to incorporate some red lips here and there and I will be in the pursuit of finding the perfect chic red dress.

Here some inspiration for the day:

Cat eye, red lips inspiration

We have to thank Ms. Marilyn Monroe for this one: black eyeliner and bright red lips are a fashion statement I love. I have to confess it is a high maintenance lip color because I find myself reapplying it several times. There are some nice no-smudge-long-wear reds out there but it’s not for me. My lips get weird and you better like the color because it is a-pain-in-the-neck to take it off.

So for this week I present you the cat eye-red lips inspiration:

DIY: red Easter eggs with Kool-Aid

egg5

I don’t drink Kool-aid. I know it is delicious because I tried it as a kid. My current situation is that I can’t have any food coloring because it can trigger migraines but even if it didn’t I would not drink it. But this is not a post about if Kool-aid is healthy or not. This is a post that gives you a nice-smelling Easter egg dye. You can use any color you like but remember the stronger the color the brighter the egg dye.

The instructions are really simple. Boil your eggs, let them cool. Pour a packet of Kool-aid inside your bowl of choice with cold water and a drop of vinegar. Put the boiled egg inside and wait two to three minutes per egg. I used a bowl big enough for four eggs at a time. Let dry.

Things to consider:

-If it’s not bright enough pour another pack of Kool-aid and let sit for another minute or two.

-At first they will look orange. Don’t panic, as they dry they get red.

-They will smell amazing.

-Careful with your fingers, try to use some plastic gloves if you have them. (I didn’t and my fingers looked like I had a first degree burn. Not nice).
