Room tour: my office

1

When we moved to our current apartment, I was excited to finally have my own office. Back in Caracas my office was in the middle of the hallway (remember this post?) and in our last apartment I had a microscopic one. Well… I think I have upgraded myself to a more office-like space and I love the natural light that this room has. We are renting and that is why I don’t have anything hanging on the walls.

This room is my office and my «beauty room»; I have a working space and a vanity table. I also store my bags, shoes and jewelry so this brings more color to the room. Should I point out that Nina always is by my side? She keeps me company every time I am in here. ❤

My bags were thrown inside my closet and they kept losing its form. So my mom gave me the idea of buying a hat/coat rack and hanging them instead. I bought mine in Ikea.

Before and after: mini balcony make-over

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The weather is starting to get a little warmer and I can’t be more excited about it!

When we were looking for an apartment back in September, I hoped it would have a balcony. So to my surprise, we found that this place had three mini balconies and one of them was big enough for me to put a small table and two chairs. I also added some colorful lights that I bought from Tiger (this store is going to be the end of me) and a bamboo rug.

Lately we’ve been blessed with beautiful sunny days and I can’t wait to have my morning coffee in the balcony when it gets a little warmer.

A little office inspiration

I have had a love-hate relationship with our current apartment for a while now. The problem has always been that when we moved here, this was going to be a «temporary» situation. I can’t emphasize enough all the problems this apartment has. We bought the apartment in a rush and that is why the guy who sold us the place was so happy. Not only he had the most hideous taste in furniture, colors and wood, but he also left the apartment with a water problem and an electricity problem. (Thank you dear, I hope karma comes back to you soon.)

So enough with the negative things, we are planning on moving soon. Yey! I can’t tell you where or when, because I want to make it a surprise, but changes are coming our way!

Remember this post about my office? Well I don’t plan on changing it again because we are moving out… but I do want to share some inspirations for my future office or workspace.

What’s inside my travel carry-on

I hate to have tons of things in my carry-on bag every time I travel. It’s uncomfortable, annoying and normally you end up bringing things you don’t need. That’s why I like to keep it simple and practical. I am going to give you a peek inside mine.

I always carry my handbag with the essentials for the airport and a small square travel case that is practical and fits under the front seat in the airplane. When I travel overseas I usually add black sweatpants and a cozy long-sleeve sweater inside my carry-on that I use as a «pyjama» because I hate sleeping in jeans or pants. I always change before landing.

These are the items I normally take with me. I didn’t add them to the picture but I also take a small purse with travel documents, my Kindle and a travel-size makeup bag.

1) You really need these. Sometimes you arrive at the airport with a fabulous face other times with a no-friends-face after a long flight.

2) My purse and my travel documents purse.

3) Sleep mask. I can’t sleep if everything is not pitch-black, so these don’t leave my bag.

4) My Iphone.

5) Planes get chilly, so I learned to a-l-w-a-y-s bring a shawl.

6) Face wipes. I take my makeup off on long flights and re-apply it before landing. So these are really helpful.

7) A pair of socks. I like to wear them before I fall asleep. Never walk on the airplane with bare-naked feet. Just don’t.

8) Bobby pins, hair clip and ear plugs.

9) Band-aids, toothpaste and toothbrush (missing from the picture above), travel-size perfume, sanitizing hand wipes, travel-size Nivea cream, sugar-free candy, lip balm, face lotion and Tide travel-size.

10) The case where I put #8 and #9.

11) Small hair comb and a pen.

12) My passport (well, obviously).

Everything fits here. I also have space for some granola, magazines and my camera.

Do you guys have any travel essentials?

Organized Jewelry: From boring to fabulous

portada

We have a small room in our apartment that I declared mine. (Yes I’m kind of territorial). At first it was a fun craftroom then a girly office. None of that worked out. It was abandoned and non creative.

One day I was smashing clothes inside drawers and asphyxiating dresses inside the closet and it hit me. Why not have a big walking closet? BINGO. The little room became my room of wonders.

My vanity table had finally found a home, my clothes finally breathed and my jewelry, well my jewelry was feeling good but not pretty.

Yesterday I gave my room of wonders a makeover and now my little trinkets are displayed for me to hug them and wear them.

It was organized but kind of dull.

My necklaces tangled and it was kind of hidden mess.

Here we go: organized and pretty. I bought 3 things that helped a lot: a necklace mannequin, a bracelet holder and a necklace and earring holder. Here you can find the DIY versions of jewelry display.
