Resolutions 2015: almost achieved

blog12345

My resolutions tend to be more of a to-do list than anything else. I try to always focus on being healthy, learning new things, live new experiences and most of all…be happy.

Last year I achieved 100% of my resolutions but this year I arrived to a 80%. But really, who cares? I added new things on the way and I am still pretty proud of everything I have accomplished.

Here is the recap of the year:

  • Finish the first draft of my book.

The first draft is done people! Now I need to correct and clean up everything. I am so excited to start organizing everything and who knows…maybe I’ll share with you guys some chapters.

  • Start dancing flamenco again.

This did not happen this year. I won’t get sad or frustrated, it simply did not happen. What did happen though was me starting to love Crossfit-training. Now that is something I feel really good about. Sorry Flamenco, maybe next year.

  • Decrease my diet soda intake.

Big round of applause for me! My soda intake decreased to a 90% this year. It was kind of hard at the beginning but after making it a habit it is now part of my life. Every time I order something to drink it is always water, just in special occasions I drink a Zero Coke because I really enjoy it.

  • Take a lovely vacation.

My lovely trip did happen this year when I went to Greece with Jimmy. We had three days of work and then free days! That was also the last time I saw my Grandma. She passed away two weeks ago and I still can’t believe it. This resolution definitely brought me joy and I will remember this trip forever.

  • Attend a concert.

This did not happen either. I was supposed to go to a couple of concerts but we backed down last-minute for different reasons. Oh, maybe next year…

  • Acquire a new skill.

My new skill acquired this year is that I got better at communicating and organizing our internal logistics. Let me explain: when we make videos there is a person who keeps everybody organized, on time and above all things happy. That person is…. (wait for it)….me. This year I got a little better at it.

  • Keep up my good work from last year.

I am exercising at least 5 times a week, when I’ve had a good week it could be 6 times. I am also trying to keep a healthy diet most of the time.

So this is the update from this year and soon I will be posting my resolutions for 2016.

Do you guys have your resolutions ready? 🙂

7 things I love about Madrid

madrid11

I am starting to relax a little. My new life is… well new. I am find myself taking the subway like I have lived here my whole life. I wake up early with no alarm clock and I eat whenever I feel like it. So today I want to share seven things I am loving about Madrid.

1) There are tons of gluten-free products. I have found gluten-free pizza and churros! Churros you people!!!

2) I am walking miles and miles every single day. No car, but hot toned legs.

3) Finally I can apply my screenwriting skills: I am actually making scripts and directing video clips.

4) I am in the middle of my book. I write and write because my creative side is going wild!

5) I eat, I walk, I burn all the calories. Enough said.

6) My apartment is small, so I clean it in 20 minutes max.

7) I love my balcony view. I see the front street that hides behind a big old tree.

7 Things I am loving right now: June edition

These past two weeks have been hectic. I am studying, working and trying to have a social life.

Lately, I have had more bad days than good but I am happy brighter days are peaking ahead. I want to share with you guys seven things I am loving right now so I can also remind myself that there is always something that makes us smile.

1) I just mastered the Paleo crostata. Well, not actually “mastered” per se, but it came out pretty good. Finally after many baking mistakes I got it right!

2) I am enjoying coffee, the balcony and the weekends. Loving the Summer breeze.

3) Sunday sunshine. I am loving some alone time too.

4) Nina enjoying a little photoshoot.

5) Since warmer nights are starting to peak in our bedroom, I changed my bed sheets to “Summer” mode.

6) I was having the worst day ever. Rainy day, bad traffic, constant arguments with everyone. When I arrived home, I went to my little balcony to get some air and this happened: the brightest rainbow I have ever seen.

7) Gluten-free red velvet cupcake!

So this will become my little personal tradition: every time I am feeling down I will write down 7-10 things that make me happy. Bum! Instant happy mood. 🙂

Thank you

playa thank you

This post was inspired by a fragment of last week’s post “Emotions”. I wrote about how the word “Thank you” is as powerful as “I love you”.

I believe that being grateful can change your whole world. Sometimes you don’t mean it when you say it, maybe other times is just a natural reaction to an act of kindness, but what’s really important is to feel it.

A couple of years ago I used to complain about everything. I use to wake up in a bad mood, brush my teeth, take a shower and while I did those things I was complaining. I complained about my past and some terrible things I went through. Then my day would go on and this constant emotional baggage would accompany me until I went to sleep at night. I cried, I complained a little more, eventually I slept.

I am not going to sit here and tell you all about my magic transformation and the tragedy that inspired it because I’ll be lying. I am going to tell you how now, before complaining about anything, I think about something I am grateful for. It changes my whole perspective of the situation.

It makes me a happier person to count my blessing than to count all the things that make me unhappy. There is always something to be grateful for. Always.

So today I would also like to thank YOU. For reading this, whoever you are, wherever you are in the world, whatever you believe in.
