We have to thank Ms. Marilyn Monroe for this one: black eyeliner and bright red lips are a fashion statement I love. I have to confess it is a high maintenance lip color because I find myself reapplying it several times. There are some nice no-smudge-long-wear reds out there but it’s not for me. My lips get weird and you better like the color because it is a-pain-in-the-neck to take it off.
So for this week I present you the cat eye-red lips inspiration:

My take on the trend:
There is no doubt my sister has style. Since she was a baby, she always loved to be nicely dressed. She used to choose her outfits and never left the house without her pink purse and princess shoes. Really cute. Nowadays she obviously tossed the pink purses for fashion bags and the princess shoes for some high heels.
Today she will be our guest writer for «Fashion Wednesdays».
I can’t wait for Summer. This is when we girls tend to show a little more skin and have fun under the sun. The good news is I live in a tropical country and I can wear them very often. High waisted denim shorts can be sexy and trendy.
They became popular in the 1990s but they are still really fashionable today. High waisted shorts come in different styles and colors but I prefer the denim version. You can also wear these shorts during colder weather with some leggings underneath.
I usually wear them without leggings with my Jack Daniel’s tank top, a belt and some minimal jewelry.
Here is a tutorial on the DIY version
I love this hairstyle. It is classy and elegant. The problem is I can’t pull it off unless I live with a flat-iron under my pillow. It’s not happening for me. Sure, I have worn wigs for photo shoots and the occasional party, but believe me if I cut my hair that short I will resemble a poodle who just got into a fight with his hairdresser.
After seeing the movie «Chicago» I just got obsessed with Thelma’s hair. She looked so glamorous. So this week’s inspiration is «The Bob». I investigated a little and found out that there are different kinds of styles for this haircut:
- Chinese bob: Cut at the neckline, bobbed up around the edge.
- A-line bob: A typical bob cut, with slightly longer hair in front, cut in an asymmetrical style.
- Shingle bob: An old-fashioned, dome-shaped bob with the back razor-cut very short into a V shape.
- Chin-length bob: Cut straight to the chin, with or without bangs.
- Buzz cut bob: Where it is shoulder-length in the front and close-cropped at the back.
- Shaggy bob: A messy bob layered with a razor.
- Shoulder-length bob: A blunt bob that reaches the shoulders and has very few layers.
Flowers, breezy afternoons, hint of sunlight. What is not to love about Spring? I am lucky enough to live in a country where we have a Summer/Spring climate all year-long. Yes, you heard me; all-year-long. But I still love to celebrate the arrival of Spring this time of the year.
Here my three favorite fashion trends that have Spring written all over them.
1) Braided crown.
2) Pastel nail polishes.
3) Flowy skirts.
Do you guys have any Spring trend you love?
Ok, so here is the deal: I went crazy when I saw this trend last year. I am aware that it is not everybody’s cup of tea.
Todays inspiration is for the little rebels out there that think this look is fun. Let me tell you that if you like the look but are afraid of a permanent change, there is always pink hair chalk and semi-permanent looks. (Am I convincing or what?)
I wanted a fun twist to my blonde ombre so I bought some pink dye and went for it…at home. I was terrified but excited. I knew that the worst thing that could happen was me not liking it so I would top it with brown dye and go back to normal.(Considering I could also go bald).
My attempt was successful. I did like it…for a while. I kept it for three months, had fun with it and eventually went back to my last look. Got it off my system.
Here is a picture I took last October of my new pink dip dyed hair (see how smart I am that I did it near Halloween? Just in case.)
There is something about sparkling sequins that makes you feel glamorous instantly. Personally, I love sequined jackets because they can turn an ordinary outfit into an extraordinary one. Yesterday I was browsing my closet, when I saw my golden sequins jacket and thought that it would be a cool inspiration for this week.
Paired with jeans, black shorts, leggings or a dress, this piece is a must for adding a little sparkle to your outfit.
1) All disco colors in these jackets.
2) Shine bright like a diamond.
3) Sporty glam.
I took a picture from my Iphone so you guys can have a look at mine.
You have no idea how much I love long-sleeve tops. Since the ballet days, this piece has been a must on my wardrobe because it is versatile and comfortable. There are tons of different fabrics and designs. There are the cotton ones, the sweater tops, the dressy, the sporty, the elegant, the comfortable, you name it.
I usually buy them extra large because I like to show my shoulder from time to time. I like to wear them with leggings. Sometimes I throw in a belt or statement necklace if I want to make it more dressy.
The fashion inspiration for this week:
You can find the tops here.
I’ve realized that I have a tons of extremely big necklaces. They are a wonderful piece that can change a simple outfit to a fabulous one. If you are going to wear a big necklace be sure you keep your earrings to a minimum, you don’t want to look like a Christmas tree.
I usually post links for you to find the product online (you are welcome), but this week I am going to change things a little and share with you some tutorials on how to make your own fabulous necklace.
1) Neon statement
2) Here you can find tons of ideas
3) Brass necklace
Don’t we all love when we find a tutorial on a certain beauty trick we didn’t completely master? Well we all know it’s a fantastic feeling. I have a Pinterest board dedicated to that. Today I will share my favorite ones with you.

2) How to contour and highlight tutorial from «Once Wed» here:
3) Dry shampoo recipe here. This recipe from «Small home big start» is one of my favorites. I keep a small jar and a brush near my vanity for second day hair.
4) I love ballet fashion and this trend was one that stuck with me after the ballet days. I find it as a smart idea for bad hair days. Thanks to «Made in Pretoria» for this tutorial.
5) No curling iron? Well good news…you can curl your hair with a flat-iron! Thanks to «The fixation files» for this how-to:

This is a trend you either love or hate. No in between.
At first I was skeptical about wearing practically a necklace in my head, until one day I used one for a photo shoot and kinda loved it.
It has its boho vibe and completes a maxi dress pretty well.
My inspiration for this week is head jewelry.
1) DIY chain headband
2) Simple one
3) Love this gold one
4) Silver version
I still have this one that I like to wear from time to time.
There was a time were my nails were usually painted burgundy, in a french manicure, or from time to time red.
When neon colors started to pop on runways and salons it was love at first sight but I have to admit that white was always a classic.
I am having an affair with chalk-white polish right now and this is my inspiration for this week:
Here are 27 interesting nail hacks for the DIY manicure.
Prints can get tacky if you don’t wear them wisely. Sometimes they can even look cheap. Certainly you don’t have to spend thousands for a nice piece but you do have to be selective. I love how this print can be mixed with red, emerald-green and the classic black. My inspiration for this week is leopard print.
1) Airy jungle shirt
2) Safari ballet flats
3) Love the cut in this dress
4) Casual romper
5) Makeup pouch
