Just let them know

blog love post

I am used to be the one who says I love you first.

I am the one who lets you know that I appreciate you. People always tell me I should not be like this because eventually others will take advantage of me (eventually they do).

Have you been backstabbed and lied to? Have you been mocked and been hurt? Do you feel like you should stop being so kind and loveable? Don’t. Please just don’t. If you do, you let them win.

Life is too short and too precious for holding back love. I think we get to spend so little time in this earth and with the people we love that is a waste of time to “hold back”.

Hold your loved ones hand. Take a good look at the people you love because believe me, they will not be there forever. Call someone, don’t just text. Be brave enough to compliment people when you see them instead of just leaving a “like” on their Facebook.

Don’t forget to let your parents, grandparents and family know how much you appreciate them and how thankful you are for the things they have done for you: remember that as you grow older so do they.

Plum lips: yes please

I am not used to winter.

I try to look stylish but somehow find myself resembling a snowman. Layers and layers and more layers of clothing. But what can I do? I am cold (I can hear my mom’s voice in my head saying «then invest in some heavy-good-quality winter coat»).

So to compensate for the «snowmanish» attire, I try to play with statement makeup. I have fallen in love with the plum lips trend. I had never used it before and the other day I felt bold enough to put some of this dark-colored chic lipstick. Works marvelous. Really, I have done my research and almost everybody looks good with this color of lips.

Since I didn’t know how this was going to turn out, I bought mine from H&M just to try it and I really liked it. Pair with neutral eyes for day and with a bold cat-eye for a night out.

Here 10 things that made this trip a very special one:

1) I learned to play scala 40. I am telling you: this game is addictive!

3) I visited my grandmother’s sister aunt Eleni (sweetest lady on earth).

4) We had a big delicious family meal on Sunday at my cousin Babis’ house.

5) My aunt Tasia made «cremidopita» and it was amazing!

6) A lovely purple good-luck necklace I am wearing right now from my aunt Agni.

7) My aunt Rena made me laugh all day…everyday.

8) I saw the most beautiful sunset of my entire life.

9) I got to have a heart-to-heart conversation with my cousin Leon.

10) I visited my grandfather’s grave and missed him even more.

By the way…I just joined Bloglovin…oh yes…better late than never. If you wish to follow me (please do, it’s fun I promise) click here.

Thessaloniki’s photo diary

There is a special place in my heart for this city. I have childhood memories that fill my heart with joy every time I think about Thessaloniki. I came back just a couple of days ago and even though the weather was cold, my heart came back very warm from seeing my family.

As you guys can guess, I have a very big (and cool) family. In this past post you can see some more pictures. I stayed at my aunt Tasia’s home that is just above my grandmother and aunt Rena’s apartment. So I was going up and down the whole trip sharing with all of them.

I also visited my aunt Agni’s home and she cooked some delicious spaghetti that night. I shared a lovely meal with my aunt George and my cousin Leonidas (whom I love with all my heart).

We had a big and yummy family meal on Sunday and I got to see my whole family together.

I can’t tell you how happy and thankful I got to spend some time with all of them. I know my grandfather Kiriakos would be very happy is he saw us all together like this.

I ate siropiasta like a crazy person. I am not allowed to eat this kind of sweets due to my migraines but I made an exception just this once.

I remember having a comfortable office back in our old apartment. Remember this post? Well I am going to show you my new tiny workspace.

We bought this desk at Ikea and it was resting in our bedroom. I adopted our dining table as my office and everyday I had to move my things when we…well…dined. So I moved the desk from the bedroom to our living room (since there was an available space now that the Christmas tree was gone) and now I have a lovely view from where I am now writing this post.

I added my office supplies so it felt more like a workspace. Before you go all judgemental on me for the little uncomfortable pink chair, I am going to buy a proper sitting chair so I won’t turn into Quasimodo before the year ends.

I am also going to add some more things…but for now…here it is:

Short trip to Barcelona

Almost a year ago I posted 5 places that I wanted to visit and Barcelona was in that list.

I am happy to tell you guys that finally I met this wonderful city. My brother-in-law accommodated us in his lovely apartment and we spend New Year’s Eve with him. It was a very relaxing short trip and I really can’t wait to see Barcelona in the summer one day.

Pure bliss: 6 things that make my January rock

I have to confess I didn’t feel the year change on January 1st. I was so relaxed and prepared for it a month before that it felt quite good. We went to Barcelona to visit my brother-in-law and had a very nice time. (Barcelona post coming this Friday) It is such a beautiful city that I can’t wait to visit again!

Another lovely thing is that Daniel (the little sunshine of my life) arrived from Dublin to spend a couple of days in Madrid. Having him around reminds me how lucky I am to have such a wonderful friend. We celebrated his birthday and had so much fun!

I hope you guys had a lovely New Year’s Eve and are starting the year with a solid foot. I want to share with you my 6 favorite things that make January rock…

1) Stefi knows me so well. She sent me this lovely gift and I couldn’t be happier adding it to our home decor. 1

2) My face of pure happiness next to Daniel in his birthday. (Photo taken by the fabulous Christian.)

3) These guys. We giggled all day.

4) My friend Maria Teresa got me this beautiful ballerina from Vienna! I loved it!

5) Wrapping gifts with spray-painted pasta ribbons. 7

6) Jimmy made some «antipasto» and we had a movie marathon on Sunday night.
