Instafood: Madrid edition

I haven’t had time to make a recipe tutorial. Not to mention my kitchen is really small and I have just the basic instruments in there. I will post some new recipes in the future though. Small kitchens never have stopped me from cooking what I love!

Lately, while we were getting settled, we had a very strange diet between salads, fast food and ice cream. I am getting back on track this week. We ate paella, found local almond milk, had fun getting lost in the farmer’s market and even drinking some limoncello!

7 things I love about Madrid

I am starting to relax a little. My new life is… well new. I am find myself taking the subway like I have lived here my whole life. I wake up early with no alarm clock and I eat whenever I feel like it. So today I want to share seven things I am loving about Madrid.

1) There are tons of gluten-free products. I have found gluten-free pizza and churros! Churros you people!!!

2) I am walking miles and miles every single day. No car, but hot toned legs.

3) Finally I can apply my screenwriting skills: I am actually making scripts and directing video clips.

4) I am in the middle of my book. I write and write because my creative side is going wild!

5) I eat, I walk, I burn all the calories. Enough said.

6) My apartment is small, so I clean it in 20 minutes max.

7) I love my balcony view. I see the front street that hides behind a big old tree.

Vogue’s Fashion Night Out: Madrid

Eventually I took the dust of my black jump suit and put it on. I can’t remember the last time I wore this outfit. I love this jumpsuit (except when it’s time to pee and you have to take the whole thing off).

I have to say we where looking quite good that night. Perfect for the «Vogue Fashion Night out». The only problem was that as we were walking I told Jimmy that it would be a wonderful idea to buy an umbrella because somehow I predicted it was going to rain. He never listens to me and so it did rain and my hair got wet resembling a electrocuted chicken.

That being said I managed to make the look work and we headed to the crowded Madrid streets. I don’t know if you have noticed in my past «Fashion Wednesday» posts but I do have sneaked in my collages some pics of «Madame de Rosa«. I love this Spanish blogger. She has a very cool style and I have been following her blog for quite a while now. Who would have thought I would meet her? Yup, it was pretty cool.

Somewhere over the…trees

apartamento madrid

There we were, climbing up the stairs of an old building. All I was thinking was «what did we get ourselves into?». But when the owner opened the big wooden door, we were relieved. A small hallway hugged us with a warm welcome. Natural light was peaking in the living room area and I immediately smiled. I didn’t have to see the rest of the flat to know this was the place.

In a near future I will paint the walls white. You guys know how much I love to redecorate! Yesterday we went furniture-shopping and found some lovely stuff.

I am so happy to start this new chapter and share it with you all!

New home, new life

UPLOAD1

I have to confess I have had a really hard time finding a place to live. When I was looking for an apartment in Miami it was so much easier. But after long days and walking like a marathon athlete, we found a lovely place to start from scratch.

The new is located in an old building near Madrid’s downtown. It is a very calm and tranquil neighborhood with tons of little stores around it. It had two rooms: one will be Jimmy’s office where he will be working all day long and the other one will be our bedroom. The living room is really nice. We have two small balconies with a lovely view where we can peak between trees and take a glance at people walking.

UPLOAD 2

We don’t count with an elevator, but I think it will do us good to climb some stairs until the 3rd floor everyday (until it is time to buy water and it won’t be that fun at all.)

Soon I will try to go back to the original weekly mode of this blog’s format, but until then, I will be keeping you updated in the «Miscelaneous» section.

So excited!

I am finally here!

Dear Madrid, I have officially arrived!

I am still looking for a place to live and it has been a little hard, but I am getting there. I found some interesting places and some terrible crack-house style apartments but I have the feeling that we will find something we really like. I can’t wait to share new photos of our trip so far and I believe this is going to be a very interesting adventure.

May you all have a wonderful week!

Almost done: Madrid here I come!

I am writing this post and I already feel nostalgic since this is probably the last time I am going to be posting from this place. It’s official: I have packed everything and I am ready to start from scratch.

Tomorrow is going to be a very long day. Trips to Europe are long and the whole Caracas-airport-thing makes me feel anxious. Tonight I will be having a hard time falling asleep for sure. I am going to miss tons of things but I am excited for all the new experiences to come.

My bags have extra weight and we do have extra luggage. I just can’t process how I managed to pack our lives in just five suitcases (well thanks Mom you are amazing at this).

I will be posting as soon as I get there.

See you soon!
